		List Surround the town of
Parodi Ligure the hamlets of Cadepiaggio, Tramontana and Tramontanino
and together form a territory of fragrant and healthy air, ideal for
holidays, with many restaurants with tempting culinary delights. The
small town extends to 340 meters above sea level, on the flat top of a
hill from where it faces the Apennines and you can see the most distant
		Alps in a suggestive embrace.
Perhaps founded by the Ligurian, Parodi was conquered by the Romans who
included it in the territories occupied by them from the very 'beginning
		of the third century B.C.
Of the medieval castle remain intact some structures erected around 1000
on the remains of a fortification complex built by the Romans in former
times. The town's name recalls the long presence of the noble Marquis
Parodi, which here could count on strong prestige and his wealth derived
		from his extensive possessions.
To visit the ancient Convent of San Remigio, located under Cadepiaggio
and its "Cross", made of stone, which imposes and towers to the sky,
marks a historic date; the reconciliation of Italian State and the
Catholic Church in 1929. From the place where was erected, it ranges on
		a majestic serenity and beauty.
Tennis, bowling and soccer are the sports available all year in the town
		of Parodi.
In Tramontana there are two thriving commercial enterprises
family-runned for the processing of meats: Beniamino Calcagno and Franco
Calcagno. The authenticity of their products, sausages, salami,
cotechini, ham, bacon and sausage in aspic, attracts a wide clientele
both from Genoa and from neighboring towns.
The popular festivals to remember are: San Lorenza Day on August 10, in
Cadepiaggio, procession in the afternoon and public dancing in the
		evening in the sports field.
Patronal Feast of St. Rocco, on August 16; Feast of Unity Day, in
Parodi, in the second half of August. On this occasion they eat and
dance together in joy. Festival of the chickpeas, in the hamlet
Tramontana, the weekend in late August during which are held
football game and bowling, dancing and taste, as well as dishes made
from chickpeas and many local specialties such as chops sausages, etc.
Local productions: the area, definitely farming, promotes the wine
business with a good production of White Cortese, Dolcetto d'Ovada and
others, which allow significant commercial activities.
Also the local crafts is quite important.
